Since 1993, Allimor Footwear has grown from a small operation of 20 employees into an established South African footwear manufacturer with a team of approximately 150 people.
Founded by Mr Moonsamy Marimuthoo, the business was built on resilience, dedication and a commitment to quality. Through changing economic conditions and the challenges faced by the manufacturing industry, Allimor continued to grow while remaining committed to its people and its community.
Today, our 2,000m² facility in Chatsworth, KwaZulu-Natal, represents more than three decades of hard work, experience and growth.
Allimor Footwear’s journey began with a simple vision: to build a sustainable footwear manufacturing business while creating meaningful opportunities for the people around us.
Over the years, our workforce has grown from 20 employees to approximately 150. Behind that growth is a team of experienced individuals who bring extensive knowledge and skill to every area of our operation.
With the retirement of founder Mr Moonsamy Marimuthoo, leadership has moved into the next generation.
As Director, Rolenta Marimuthoo is committed to building on the foundation established by her father while taking Allimor Footwear forward.
Her combination of formal business education, hands-on experience within the company and an understanding of the footwear industry provides a strong foundation for the company's continued development.
With an eye on market trends and a commitment to quality and innovation, Rolenta's vision is to position Allimor for continued growth and transformation.
Allimor Footwear manages a comprehensive manufacturing process, taking footwear from individual components through to a finished product.
Our manufacturing operation includes:
Individual pieces are carefully cut to form the upper of the shoe, with skilled workers focusing on accuracy and minimising material waste.
The cut components are sewn together by skilled machinists to create the completed upper, with additional edge treatments applied where required.
The completed upper is shaped around a last to create the form of the finished shoe. The insole, sole and heel are then fitted and secured according to the style being produced.
The completed shoe undergoes trimming, buffing, staining and polishing where required. Final finishing details help create a polished, craft-finished appearance.
Our in-house design capability is supported by 17 years of industry experience.
The design team specialises in developing custom footwear samples according to individual client specifications and fit requirements.
With dedicated design and prototyping resources, Allimor can respond efficiently to development requirements and produce samples that closely represent the intended finished product.
This capability allows us to work with clients from the development stage and respond to changing footwear requirements.
For Allimor Footwear, local manufacturing is about more than producing shoes.
Our facility is situated in the heart of Chatsworth, close to an informal settlement. By providing employment and training opportunities, we contribute to the economic wellbeing of individuals, families and the surrounding community.
We believe meaningful employment can help people earn a living wage, strengthen household financial stability and contribute to broader community development.
Through our continued investment in people and local manufacturing, we aim to play a positive role in the community we call home.
Our mission is to design, manufacture and deliver high-quality, affordable and durable footwear that meets the everyday needs of diverse market segments.
We are committed to strengthening local footwear manufacturing by responding to market needs and developing practical footwear ranges for South African consumers.
Our approach combines local production, skilled people, innovative design and responsible practices as we work towards a sustainable future for Allimor Footwear.
